Candid photos are the in-between moments, a glance, a laugh, a quiet second when you think no one’s watching. These happen naturally throughout the day and are usually unplanned. They’re full of emotion, movement, and personality. For Example: your partner wiping away a tear during the vows, your parents hugging when they think no one’s looking, or your friends losing it on the dance floor. These are the moments that help you feel the day all over again when you look back. This is the core of how I shoot. My style is candid and relaxed, I’m always looking for the moments that are real and unfiltered.
I’ll give gentle direction when needed, but for the most part, I want you to just enjoy your day and forget the camera’s even there.
Pro tip: If you're nervous about looking stiff in photos, focus on each other! (not the camera).
Chat, walk, laugh, or just be in the moment. That’s when the best candid shots happen, and you won’t even notice I’m clicking away.
Posed photos, on the other hand, are a little more structured. These are the classic shots, the family groupings, portraits of you two together, and maybe a few editorial-style shots if that’s your vibe. They’re guided, which means I’ll help you with where to stand, what to do with your hands, and how to look natural without feeling stiff or awkward. These are the photos that go in frames or on your grandparents’ fridge the classic images that everyone’s expecting to see.
Here’s the thing. You don’t have to choose between the two. A good wedding gallery will have both. The posed ones give you a polished version of your day, while the candids help you relive how it actually felt. I always balance the timeline to leave room for both, so you get a full story, not just what it looked like, but what it was like.
The best part? Some of the most beautiful moments come in the middle of posing, when you start laughing between shots, when someone cracks a joke, or when your partner pulls you in a little closer. That’s when the real stuff happens. And I’ll be there for all of it.
